A MESSAGE FROM PRCMG ON COVID-19
UPDATE: AS OF 3/24/20, PRCMG/NCFRP WILL REMAIN OPEN TO TREAT OUR PATIENTS VIA TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Please Do Not come into the office unless otherwise directed by PRCMG/NCFRP staff. We encourage you to call your primary healthcare provider immediately if you have symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing (check here — https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/index.html), OR you are at-risk (check here — https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/high-risk-complications.html).
For over 20 years, Pain & Rehabilitative Consultants Medical Group’s mission has always been “to relieve suffering and improve quality of life.” This mission guides us, as we all try to navigate uncharted waters and face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With this in mind, we realize that we are “essential” to our patients. The shelter at home issued for Bay Area county residents identifies all healthcare operations as an ESSENTIAL BUSINESS and have encouraged such businesses to remain open. So, we have decided that PRCMG & NCFRP WILL REMAIN OPEN TO TREAT OUR PATIENTS.
We recognize that these are unsettling times, but we want you to know that, as always, our focus is on the safety and wellbeing of our staff and patients. On a day to day basis, we continue to monitor and follow the guidelines provided by the CDC and our government and local health authorities. In response, PRCMG & NCFRP have put in place several precautionary measures for our staff and patients as recommended by the CDC including, increased standard precautions and additional environmental cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
While this continues to be a challenging time for all of us, we also want to thank and recognize the overwhelming support of our clinical and administrative teams, who continue to provide the best possible care for our patients.
If you have any questions, please contact us at our main number 510-647-5101.
What is Functional Restoration?
As you are no doubt aware, worker’s compensation laws have changed and often to the detriment of your patients. Denials for therapy, medications, and alternative medicine procedures, are now more commonplace. The treating physician’s role has diminished and injured workers are often left without effective treatment. Delays and denials of treatment may make recovery and return to work seemingly impossible goals for our patients. The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 2nd, Chapter 6, edition clearly advocates use of interdisciplinary treatment programs in chronic pain cases. (American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 2nd ED. Pgs. 92 & 114). To date, over 100 studies have been published in the medical literature chara cterizing the unique benefits of interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation. Patients who have failed multiple therapies, have changed physicians in search of an answer, who continually receive higher and higher amounts or narcotic medications, who have lost hope, are depressed, angry and isolated should be considered for an interdisciplinary program. When treatment options have been exhausted and your patient has no resolution in sight to his ongoing complaints of pain and disability, it may be time to consider a referral to the Northern California Functional Restoration Program. A recommended follow up appointment is booked with the PTP immediately after completion of program.

NCFRP is now a CARF Accredited Center of Excellence
NCFRP was awarded the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization which shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.
“CARF-accredited service providers enjoy international recognition for their commitment to excellence. Third-party payers, governmental agencies, and the public at-large recognize CARF accreditation as a demonstration of accountability and conformance to internationally accepted standards that promote excellence in their services. CARF International accreditation provides a visible symbol that assures the public of a provider’s commitment to continually enhance the quality of services and programs with a focus on the satisfaction of the persons served.” – CARF.org
PRCMG takes part in the City of Emeryville’s wellness program
On April 8, Dr. Christina Iglesia presented a workshop on the Mindfulness technique for the City of Emeryville employees. The city’s employee wellness program invited PRCMG to take part in their monthly presentations, and she chose the technique, a well-known therapy practice, to talk about. It left the employees relaxed, more knowledgeable about the mindfulness technique and ready for the rest of their day!
